The last speaker at NEXT no. 6 is wired journalist and trendspotter, Jeff Howe. He was the one who coined the term crowdsourcing, which went from zero to hero in google-searches in two weeks.
Basically Crowdsourcing is when a firm outsources a task done usually by the firm and gives it to a crowd or community. Jeff mentions photography as a great example of how a task has been taken from the professional sphere and given to the amateurs. This has been possible due to the rise of digital cameras, cheap software and the internet community.

Achtung Achtung. If you think technology should be kept out of the public space, you will be in much disagreement with Dutch tech-artist Daan Roosegarde. His ambition is to inject the bits of 1’s and 0’s into the real world. By doing that he wants technology to create interaction and feelings in the audience. In his own word: Technology must infiltrate life.

NEXT no. 6: Picture This!
Nikolaj Nyholm, CEO of Polar Rose
Polar Rose is a visual search engine. It relies partly on the social power of people to build a database of meta tags around facial recognition - and partly on complex pattern recognition algorithms to detect portrait photos elsewhere on the web that match those tagged in the database. Sounds complicated?

The free right to fish, and the right to pasture your animal on the common land is widely known and everyday examples of what we consider to be common rights. Freerisk is set to life for all in common to have the right of performing credit risk modeling.

The practise of applying biological methods into engineering is called biomimetics. It sounds advanced and so it can be. Yet, Julian Vincent sums up his art in one introductory sentence: He looks for creativity in the field of things we don’t know that we know. Keeping your mind open and registering the surrounding nature in a systematic form allows a better way of mining your knowledge.
If you feel warm, follow the example of a pine cone. A cone opens and closes its surface according to heat and surrounding humidity.

NEXT no. 6: Remote Impact!
Stefan Agamanolis, Distance Lab
Remote Impact is a tangible interface of hard-hitting proportions. A foam polstered wall that let's you take a whack at a remotely located adversary, without anyone getting hurt. But watch out for the punches coming from beyond! As with any proper boxing ring there's an opponent in the other corner, throwing the same energetic punches right back at you.

Once a week, Richard Stomp turns into a street comber. Diving into the infinite opportunities of the streets, all the technology he needs is a MAC.
What is the purpose? In a world of endless amounts of product and a daily information overload we have all tried everything seen everything and even bought the related merchandising T-shirt. Left is a deep and basic need to get that gut feeling making you say “Wow”.
That creates a serious demand for original ideas. To try and get ideas in doors is like living with your head up your A.. Street combing is idea harvesting.
