The last speaker at NEXT no. 6 is wired journalist and trendspotter, Jeff Howe. He was the one who coined the term crowdsourcing, which went from zero to hero in google-searches in two weeks.
Basically Crowdsourcing is when a firm outsources a task done usually by the firm and gives it to a crowd or community. Jeff mentions photography as a great example of how a task has been taken from the professional sphere and given to the amateurs. This has been possible due to the rise of digital cameras, cheap software and the internet community.

User involving sounds great, but does it really work that well in the stone cold reality of corporate life? According to Christoph Fuchs of Aarhus business School the answer is yes, but it is not through better products. The benefits come from better branding and business models.

Fremtidslaboratoriet er en kickstart for fremtidens undervisningsformer. I en tidsalder, hvor ungerne er født og opflasket med bredbånd og teknologi, forandres krav til undervisningen. Hele verden suges ind i klasseværelset med et museklik, så støvede skolebøger bliver helt forpustede. Og ungerne er ofte mere hjemme i teknologiens kringelkroge end underviserne er. Så hvordan skal undervisere og børn i fællesskab gribe udfordringen? Innovation Labs svar er Fremtidslaboratoriet.

Achtung Achtung. If you think technology should be kept out of the public space, you will be in much disagreement with Dutch tech-artist Daan Roosegarde. His ambition is to inject the bits of 1’s and 0’s into the real world. By doing that he wants technology to create interaction and feelings in the audience. In his own word: Technology must infiltrate life.

James Nick Sears er manden bag Orb, et 3D display, der viser planeten som vi sidder på. Den virker ved at en bue med påmonterede projektorer sættes til at spinde om en akse. Med høj hastighed giver det en glimrende illusion af an kugleformet projektion. Vi kender teknikken fra stroboskopeffekten som blev brugt i gamle film. Linket leder ind til en lidt ældre prototype. Den nyeste har han medbragt til next no.6 udstillingen.
