SEBASTIAN WENDLANDT

Sebastian Wendlandt

For his thesis in social anthropology, Sebastian went on field research in Sudan. Here he bought a donkey and travelled through the savannah with a nomadic tribe and their flock of sheep. This was only a few years ago, but if you look at the variety of places he has lived at since then, you might believe that he has slightly over-adopted the nomadic lifestyle. No wonder that deep inside he hates sitting at an office desk. His real territory lies in the field.
At Innovation Lab, Sebastian tells the compelling stories about people working in emergency rooms; about people going shopping in furniture malls; or simply eating in the intimacy of a family-breakfast in their home. He provides the use-perspective and reports back to the clients. If you ask him, “any technology is conceptualized in people’s mind and body”, and by profession he is exceedingly curious to find out about the manifold ways we do so.
Sebastian enjoys a secret life as a DJ in the local ‘balkan disko’. He also loves riding around the country – by bike, though, since he had to leave his donkey behind in Sudan.
