The very first museum in the world was allegedly housed by the fabled Library of Alexandria. Now, the same bleak fate that doomed this, the greatest library of the world, is in store for the tradition-bound museums all over the world. The last century has changed the society which the museum was created to serve; and the next hundred years will decide whether the museum as an institution will disappear from the face of the Earth.
