Chief Analyst, Techsperience & Future Living
JENS ROLAND

Jens Roland

Jens Roland is a computer scientist and chief analyst at Innovation Lab, where he has spent a number of years delivering businesses and decision makers into the 21st century.

In 2004, he became the founding editor of LabConfidential, Innovation Lab's 'technological gossip rag' and today one of Denmark's most prominent technology blogs. This makes him the thirdmost senior employee of Innovation Lab, surpassed solely by the company's two founders. And with two books and more than 300 articles under his belt, he also possesses one of the company's most active writer's cramps.

When the metaverse paradigm took off in 2006, the editorial grind gradually turned into a virtual existence in the shape of the avatar 'Roland Jenns', and Jens was appointed Virtual Worlds Manager and put in charge of Innovation Lab's research and activities in virtual worlds. Innovation Lab quickly became the leading metaverse consultancy in Denmark, constructed their virtual corporate headquarters along with IDG Computerworld and IBM, and held Denmark's first virtual live concert, featuring rock band Carpark North.

Then, in early 2007, Jens left the country and headed for Silicon Valley to work as a visiting researcher at the Institute For The Future, one of the world's oldest and most renowned technology think tanks. Here, Jens worked on the development of the institute's primary methods for trend forecasting using sharing and aggregation of expert knowledge.

Today, his business card tells a story of experience technology, virtual worlds, the home of the future, and the next generation World Wide Web. Having completed his stay in sunny California, Jens is now back in Copenhagen, representing Innovation Lab as Chief Analyst on Techsperience and Future Living.

Jens Roland is the author of the book '153 Ting Fra Fremtiden' ('153 Artifacts from the Future'), published in 2006 by Husets Forlag.
